LUCKNOW, Oct 24: Two-time Indian Open champion Ali Sher built up a huge lead of seven strokes after returning the best card for the second successive day at the Rs 6 lakh Wills Northern Open Golf here today.A three-under 67 card took Ali Sher's total to eight under 132, while local professional Vijay Kumar and Sanjay Kumar were placed joint second at one-under 139. In fourth place was Kanpur's Shiv Prakash at one-over 141. Also playing three-under 67 on the second day was Calcutta's Rezwan Ali.The cut was applied at 11 over 151 and exactly 40 golfers made it to the third round.
Ali Sher began with a birdie when he holed out his bunker shot on the first hole. There was no looking back after that as he made birdies on the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 12th and then on the 16th.
It was a day of the veterans as 42-year-old Rezwan Ali and 40-year-old Anil Samantha (Calcutta) brought in their season's best cards. Rezwan was in superb form as he hit 17 regulations and finished three under 67, ten strokes better than hisfirst round of 77.
