MUMBAI, October 25: Noted filmstar and well-known exponent of Indian classical dance Hema Malini will present six different dramas during the `Festival of Dance Ballets' organised by the Bhakti Kala Kshetra, a devotional centre for the performing arts of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The ballets will be performed at the Rang Sharda Natya Mandir, Bandra Reclamation, from October 27 to November 1.
Addressing a press conference at the ISKCON auditorium on Saturday, Hema Malini emphasised the combinations of various Indian classical dance forms used to present the ballets on Durga, Savitri, Meera, Mahalaxmi, Ramayan and Radha-Krishna.
``While it is true that only Kathak allows a little experimentation, I have mixed several forms like Kathak, Oriya and Kuchipudi to preserve the different moods of the characters and theme of the dance drama,'' she said. The music for the ballets has been composed by Ravindra Jain.
The ballets, which have been prepared after a painstaking study lastingover two years, attempt to examine the deep philosophical significance of the role of each of the major legendary characters and to offer the message of hope to the questioning spirit of man.
