MiG lads reign supreme at Worli

OCTOBER 25: Knocked out in the first-round last year, Middle-Income Group (MiG) Cricket Club emerged triumphant in the Bharat Petroleum under-14 cricket tournament, organised by the Worli Sports Club, today.

MiG scored an emphatic victory in the final. After restricting National Cricket Club to 93 for six in the allotted 25 overs, they reached their target with nine wickets and 3.1 overs to spare.

MiG skipper Manish Rawre, who top-scored with 38 (50b, 2x4), was adjudged man of the final. His opening stand of 74 with Sanil Rane (30 off 62 balls) settled the issue.

Esplanade Liberals won the match to decide the third place, defeating hosts Worli Sports Club by 39 runs.

Rawre, who was adjudged the man of the series as well, bagged vouchers for cricket equipment worth Rs 1,000. The man of the match award was worth Rs 200. Sanil Rane, who was named the best batsman of the tournament, National's left-arm spinner Devendra Mansur, best bowler, and Worli's Shravan Chhabria, the best fielder, were awardedvouchers worth Rs 500 each.

Brief scores: Final: National CC 93-6 in 25 overs (Bunty Rathod 37 n.o.; Pushkar Kalyankar 2-11) lost to MiG 96-1 in 21.5 overs (Manish Rawre 38, Sunil Rane 30 n.o.). MoM: Manish Rawre.

Third place: Esplanade Liberals 95-8 in 25 overs (Manoj Giri 22, Nitin Sonkar 22; Shravan Chhhabria 2-12, Satyajeet Sawant 2-17) bt Worli S C 56 in 24.1 overs (Rishi Vijin 21; Manoj Giri 4-6, Varun Ponkshe 2-9) by 39 runs. MoM: Manoj Giri.
