SHIMLA, Oct 25: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today laid the foundation of the four storey Vivekanand Bhavan and a commercial complex in Nabha locality.Speaking on the occasion the CM said the message of spiritual service and sacrifice of Swami Vivekananda was not only essential for character building but was also helpful in undertaking activities of national reconstruction.
The Chief Minister said that at present there were 124 Vivekananda centres functioning in different parts of the country and hoped that the centre coming up at Shimla would provide much needed service to the people. He said besides yoga, the centre would also provide facilities like Satsang Bhava, a tailoring centre, library and clinic. He announced Rs 1 lakh for the construction of the building.
Narinder Bragta, Horticulture Minister speaking on the occasion said that by laying the foundation stone of the shopping complex at Nabha one of the election promises to the people of Nabha had been fulfilled. He said that Rs 50 lakh would be spent on construction of type A,B and C quarters in Nabha estate and added that work on the Rs 59 crore sewerage scheme for Shimla town would begin next month.
Bragta said the Planning Commission had sanctioned Rs 5.50 crore for developing parking zones in Shimla and Rs 2 crore had been provided for augmenting Shimla water supply scheme.The shopping complex at Nabha to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3 lakh, would be completed by October next year.
Later, speaking on the occasion of inauguration of the science block of a college here, constructed at a cost of 1.98 crore, the Chief Minister said that education was a medium through which energy of the youth could be channellised for the betterment of the society.He said the education sector which remained neglected in the past was being given priority by opening more educational institutions throughout the state.
