South Africa beat England
South Africa defeated England by six wickets and moved into the semifinal of the Wills International Cup cricket tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday. Chasing a huge England total of 281 for 7, the South Africans rode to a comfortable victory scoring 283 for four in 46.4 overs, thanks to splendid knocks by opener Daryll Cullinan (69), skipper Hansie Hronje (67) and Jonty Rohdes' unbeaten 61-run innings.Jeev finishes third
Jeev Milkha Singh and Vivek Bhandari finished joint third in the $ 250,000 Fedex PGA tournament at the Raffles Club (Singapore), according to information received here. Waugh hits ton
A graceful century by Mark Waugh put Australia on the verge of their first series victory in Pakistan in 39 years on the fourth day of the third and final Test in Karachi on Sunday. Australia were dismissed for 390 in the last over of the day's play. Waugh scored 117 as Australia set Pakistan a challenging target of 419 to win.
Anand in form
Vishwanathan Anand moved into top gear as he demolished main rival Vladimir Kramnik with a masterly display in the second round of the Fontys-Tilburg Chess International in Tilburg last evening. The Indian is now on top of the standings in the 12-man tournament.
