Mumbai, Oct 27: Former India stars, Eknath Solkar and Sandeep Patil and State Sport Council member, V V Karmarkar will declare open the meet. The official spokesman of the tournament, Chakradhar Dalvi informed that the 29-day tourney will see 72 one-day matches of 35 overs each between the affiliated units of Vidarbha Cricket Association, Maharashtra Cricket Association and Mumbai Cricket Association. And for the first time Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai and Pune districts may face each other.The final leg of the tournament at Aurangabad has been sponsored by the electronics giants Videocon. The event promises a good show as the first class cricketers and those on verge of making it to the big league will be seen in action.
Nagpur division matches will be conducted on local VRCE turf from Nov 5 to 8. Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Bhandara and Gadchiroli will take part. All the arrangements will be made by the organisers.
PRIZES: The divisional winner will get a cash prize of Rs 5,001, while runners-upwill be richer by Rs 2,101. The man of the series will get Rs 501. The champions will receive Rs 15,001 and late Jawaharlal Darda Memorial Gold Trophy. The runners-up will get Rs 7,001. There are other individual prizes at stake.
