PUNE, Oct 27: Charanjeet Singh's blitzkrieg knock of 98, enabled SOS XI to overwhelm the challenging target of 233 runs set by Military Engineering Services (MES) in the ongoing Inter-Institute Cricket League Tournament conducted by the Poona District Cricket Association.In a high scoring match, MES who opted to bat went on to pile a challenging target of 232 in the alloted 45 overs. Raju Aaram stood firm at one end and went on to score a fine knock of 89. While Vilas Kittur and Shabbir Ahmed assisted him making worthy contributions of 42 and 37 respectively. SOS XI, however, gave a fitting reply, reaching the target well within the stipulated overs. Charanjeet lead the charge though he was unlucky to get out two runs short fo a deserving century. Vijay Apte partnered him at the other end with 60 worthwhile runs added to the total.
In another low scoring match Sharda Bank easily won their league encounter bundling out Pradeshik Postal Sports Group for 105 runs and later rattled up the necessary runs for the loss of just three wickets.
