Depleted Pakistan to take on Windies today

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Dhaka, Oct 28: As if the Test series loss to Australia was not enough, the pull-out of injured star batsmen Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq has further weakened the Pakistan team as they take on West Indies in the quarter-final tomorrow.

The West Indies, on the other hand, depend much on skipper Brian Lara and middle-order batsman Carl Hooper, who will also be a crucial bowler on these slow wickets, with his off-spinners.

PTI ADDS: ``I am fully satisfied with the team. All my players are fit. We will play positive cricket,'' Pakistani coach Javed Miandad said even as media reports here said key players Wasim Akram and Ijaz Ahmed were running high fever.

Anwar is suffering from an ear infection, while Haq has an injured toe and knee, which plagued him during the final Test against Australia in Karachi.

Salim Elahi and Akhtar Sarfaraz will play in their absence tomorrow. Teams

Pakistan: Aamir Sohail (capt), Moin Khan (wk), Salim Malik, Shahid Afridi, Ijaz Ahmed, Yousuf Yohanna, WasimAkram, Azher Mehmood, Aaqib Javed, Saqlain Mushtaq, Arshad Khan, Shoaib Akhtar and Saleem Elahi.

West Indies: Brian Lara (capt), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Clayton Lambert, Philo Wallace, Carl Hooper, Stuart Williams, Ridley Jacobs (wk), Keith Arthurton, Phil Simmons, Rodney King, Merwyn Dillon, Raul Lewis, Nixon MacLean and Neil McGarel.

Umpires: David Shepherd (Eng), Dave Orchard (SA). Third umpire: Peter Willey. Match referee: Raman Subba Row.
