MUMBAI, Oct 28: Visiting Jaybala at B Y L Nair hospital this afternoon, Naik asked the Ashar family to write a letter to him with their demands. A relative of the victim informed: ``Naik said though a job in the railways for Jaybala cannot be guaranteed, he would provide a way for her to earn her livelihood.'' This could be in the form of allotment of a stall or a booth on railway premises.Naik has also called a meeting of the railway and Mumbai police tomorrow to discuss safety measures to be adopted on trains.
Meanwhile, after two days of unsuccessful search for the robber who pushed Jaybala out of a train, the Government Railway Police (GRP) has decided to form a special team to deal with the case.
``The team, led by a police inspector of Mumbai Central, Yogesh Vajpayee, has been appointed to track down the culprit,'' said Superintendent of Police (GRP) S Ramchandran. The team consists of inspector Vajpayee, one sub-inspector and four constables.
In addition, a short film will also be taped on theincident by actor-director Nitish Bharadwaj, and it will be aired on Doordarshan along with a sketch of the suspect, Ramchandran said. This film, which will be shot near Grant Road in the next few days, is likely to go on air by the first week of next month.
Over 50 drug addicts have been rounded up by the railway police since the incident, but no arrests have been made because Jaybala couldn't identify the culprit.
Jaybala continues to recover at the hospital, receiving innumerable visitors. Besides Naik, Member of Parliament from South Mumbai Murli Deora, Cultural Affairs Minister Pramod Navalkar and chairman of BMC's health committee Sardar Tara Singh visited her at the hospital.
Deora presented the victim a cheque of Rs 25,000 and told her he would pursue the issue of her employment with the railway ministry. He also claimed he would recommend her name to President K R Narayanan for a bravery award.
