VADODARA, Oct 28: The Alumni Association of the Home Management department, Faculty of Home Science, M S University, is planning to donate Rs 1 lakh to the faculty for the construction of two staff rooms and three laboratories in the department. At present, there is only one departmental staff room, which is reportedly inadequate for its needs.Talking to Express Newsline on Wednesday, alumni association president Veena Gandotra said, ``The association was been formed only a year ago. But we have ambitious plans for the department. We propose to set up three laboratories too''.
Gandotra said that the department needed an interior design studio, an ergonomics laboratory and another for environment studies. ``Though there is a studio for interior design, it can't accommodate all the students'', she said, adding that the studio would allow the students to do their designing jobs independently.
``Environment studies is also a part of the syllabus but at present there is no separate laboratory for the subject'', Gandotra said, adding that the proposals had already been forwarded to the registrar and vice-chancellor.The association also planned to host an open house session later in the academic year, along with various fund-raising programmes, Gandotra said.
