Surat city netsite inaugurated Union Textile Minister Kashiram Rana recently inaugurated www.insuratat.com, the first website of the city. Third Year MCA student of South Gujarat University Hitesh Patel, who has designed the site, claims it will provide net-surfers all details about Surat, including demography, history and geography. It will also cover the Surat Municipal Corporation, the Surat Darshan bus service, a city news magazine, famous personalities, business and industry, vacancies, marriage bureau, yellow pages, greeting cards, jokes and games among other things.Doctors' camp A two-day camp at Ahwa, the headquarters of the Dangs district, will bring together doctors practicing modern medicine and Bhagats, who prescribe traditional medicine. Minister for Forest and Environment Kanjibhai Patel will inaugurate the camp at Dungarda village on October 30. Ration cards The State government has asked rationcard-holders to use the card only for buying essential commodities from fair price shops. Making entries in the ration card while using it for purposes like securing forms for bank loans, district industries centre loans, driving licenses, passports and land transactions, among other things, was not proper, it said. Ration cards should not be used for anything apart from buying gas cylinders, kerosene or essential commodities from fair price shops, it said. An official statement said the photo-identity card issued by the Election Commission could be used as proof of identity. Factory licence Applications for renewing factories licenses according to the provision of Factories Act, 1948, will be accepted at the office of Senior Factories Inspector, 7th floor, C-Block, Multi-Storey building, in Nanpura till October 31. Factory owners will have to submit their original licenses along with Form No 3 (in duplicate) and renewal fee. Those seeking renewal for two-year will have to pay the license fee for 1999 and 2000.
