SHIMLA, Oct 28: Chairman of the State Non-governmental Organisation Federation, Gopal Dass Verma while addressing a press conference here yesterday, threatened to resort to indefinite hunger strike outside the state secretariat if the state government did not convene the meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee before November 8 to discuss the pending demands of the employees.Addressing Verma said the meeting of the executive of the federation had been convened here on November 9 to chalk out further course of action. He would announce the date of strike after the meeting.
Verma accused the bureaucracy of creating a rift between the federation employees and the state government, and alleged that it was misleading State Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal also. He also blamed the bureaucracy for not disbursing pay to the employees before the Dussehra festival, which was followed by six holidays.
Verma demanded an early release of bonus and house rent allowance to working couples on Punjab pattern. He also demanded probe into the transfer scam pending with the Vigilance Department. Expressing surprise over the "go slow" policy of the Vigilance Department, he said transfers were still going on, but there had been a little improvement in the system.
He was all praise for Chief Minister Dhumal who, he said, did not allow victimisation of employees, irrespective of any affiliation. He said the federation had cordial relation with him.
