CHANDIGARH, Oct 28: India's number one lady golfer Parnita Garewal dropped four strokes on the first six holes but regained her form well in time to finish the second day with four-over par 74 round in the sixth Punjab Open Amateur Golf Championship being held at the Chandigarh Golf Course here today. However, Parnita maintained the lead with an aggregate 147 in the Max India Cup category. On the opening day, Parnita had carded one-under 71 to hog the limelight.Another young golfer from Chandigarh, Irina Brar, a ninth class student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, continued to occupy the second place with an aggregate total of 153. She is leader in the nett section. Shruti Khanna and Urvashi Sethi Sodhi (155 each) were joint third in the gross section.
Shruti Khanna had the distinction of returning the best card of the day -- 75. She could have performed much better had she not committed a triple bogey on the 18th holes. She had birdies on the 7th, 11th and 16th holes. Shruti also won the prize for the closest-to-the-pin performance.
