ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU
Oct 29: The Samay group, which is behind the Ajanta brand of clocks, today opened a plant equipped with modern facilities at Gujarat on 40 acres of land. The plant, which has a capacity of 20,000 quartz clocks and 1000 time pieces, was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubai Patel.

Speaking on the occasion, Patel complimented the company and expressed confidence that it would be world famous. Giving details, the chairman of the company, Ramesh Patel, said the firm had targeted exports of 30 per cent. Buyers had already been identified in the Middle East, Europe and some other countries, he said.

The clocks will be marketed through 100 depots across the country. The firm will employ around 1000 people at its factory to achieve its targets. The factory has been completed within a short span of 10 months.
