`Handa andolan' for water

  • Tardeo residents, banded under the Tardeo Vikas Samiti, led by MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha today took out a `handa andolan' to protest the acute shortage of water in the area for the past eight years.

According to a press release, 1,500 residents of the area, mostly women with handas in their hands blocked the road for nearly two hours. The protesters were met by Mayor Nandu Satam, who requested them to withdraw the agitation and promised to solve the problem within a month. He also claimed that if the problem remained unsolved, he would join their agitation

    MRRB's surplus tenement list

  • THE Mumbai Repairs and Reconstruction Board has prepared a list of surplus tenements available for allotment to tenants who feature on its masterlist. The masterlist comprises names of tenants from dilapidated buildings which cannot be reconstructed. The list of extra rooms has been displayed on a notice board on the ground floor of the Griha Nirman Bhavan at Bandra aswell as in all transit camp offices. The list includes vacant tenements in reconstructed buildings which are available on payment basis.

Those interested may apply to the repair board's deputy chief officer. The application must specify the building and room number applied for.
