After initial hiccups, HP got their act together and ripped apart the rival defence. Though UP's spikers raced to a 8-3 lead in the first set but were unable to keep up the tempo and lost the grip over the contest.

On the other hand HP's players took time to settle down and with drop shots and smashes caught up with the opponents (8-11) and then levelled the score 11-11 to win the set 15-11. UP's defence fell without resistance in the second set (5-15). It was reverse in the third set, HP's spikers lost their rhythm and the set (5-15).

There was a keen tussle to grab the upper hand in the fourth set, which also proved to be the decider as HP won the set (15-13).
