Out of six gold medals at stake, athletes from MNSS Rai bagged four gold medals including two in the girls section.

Sandeep and Amit pocketed gold medals in the 800-metre and long jump events in the boys group while Anjana and Nidhi got first positions in the 1,500 metres and javelin throw events in the girls division.

Udey Sidhu of YPS, SAS Nagar, however, spoiled MNSS Rai's party by winning gold in the shot put event with a throw of 11.75 metres while Pradeep of Rai got silver with a distance of 11.37 metres. Jaspreet of YPS, Patiala took the bronze in 11.30 metres.

Pooja of Birla Balika Vidyapeth, Pilani, with a leap of 4.67 metres took the first place in the girls long jump. Anu of MNSS Rai, who also had a jump of 4.67 meters got the second place, as she got the distance in her second attempt.

In the girls 1,500 metres race it was start to finish affair for Anjana of MNSS Rai. At the bell she had a big lead of more than 90 metres over her nearest rival. Anjana clocked 5:27.09 to win the gold.

Laxmi and Divya took the second and third positions respectively.

Eariler, the meet was inaugurated by `Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh.
