MUMBAI, Nov 1: A police team has left for Anand, Gujarat, to escort Sushila Chedda to Mumbai to face trial in several fraud cases registered against her here. Chedda, who was arrested on October 29 after her face was flashed on a TV show India's Most Wanted, may be brought to the city late in the evening.Sushila had been residing at Anand since January this year as Pragnya Shah, and was running a herbal beauty parlour and home science classes. She had also altered her hairstyle and appearance. No case had been registered against Chedda at Anand.
Sushila reportedly fled Mumbai in August last year after she forged documents and sold a flat at Yari Nagar in Borivli to four customers in separate deals. The fraud came to light when she sold the same flat to an investor at Pydhonie as well.
Earlier, Sushila had lodged a complaint with the Kandivli police station accusing five city businessmen of abducting her husband Mansuk and son Jash and gangraping and blackmailing her. But on May 25 this year, theBorivli court found the allegations to be baseless. The Kandivli police were directed to prosecute Sushila for lodging a false complaint.
