3 arrested for bogus votingThree persons were arrested on charges of bogus voting in elections held in a ward in the Ambarnath Municipal Council today, informed the Thane police. V S Kandekar (30), Prabha K Dedia (38) and G R Patil (32) had resorted to bogus voting in the polls, held in ward number 25. Polling was, though, by and large peaceful, and a turnout of around 52 per cent was reported.

The Seth Sukhanand Gurumukhrai Trust, a charitable institution, has granted financial assistance of Rs 25,000 for Jaybala Ashar, who lost her legs in a mugging incident inside a train last week. The cheque was handed over to Jaybala by Neera Jain, wife of the trust's chairperson, on Saturday.
