VADODARA, Nov 1: The count of units at the SSG Hospital Blood Bank maintained its status at 10 on Sunday with nine more philanthropists donating their blood during the past two days.As many as 11 units came from patients' kin as replacement, which was supplied back, even as the acute shortage of blood at this repository continued for the sixth consecutive day. Bank resident doctors told Express Newsline that the repository stock might swell further in another day or two given the promises by several individuals and organisations. They regretted the current status specially in the beginning of the past week, when the stock had nosedived to four units.
The doctors said the crisis was routine during vacations and festivals, when there was a large gap between the demand and supply ratio.
Meanwhile, senior activist of the Nagarik Raktadan Samiti Kanjibhai Raval said he had finalised donation -- temporarily -- from about a dozen volunteers on Monday. The doctors claimed to have spread awareness and made appeals especially to the students' bodies to come forward for the cause in the wake of cancellation of a camp, scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday in Nareshwar.
