Gandhinagar, Nov 4: Gujarat Planning Board deputy chairman Suryakant Acharya has said the government would go ahead with its decision to institute inquiry into various scandals allegedly committed during the Shankarsinh Vaghela regime.Acharya told newspersons on Monday that he had studied certain "controversial" files cleared by the Vaghela Government, and "I see little reason why the BJP Government should not inquire into these. A criminal case in a shady land deal could be immediately lodged".
To a question, he said since the Civil Supplies Department was yet to send a full report to the Home department on the sugar transport scandal allegedly involving former RJP ministers Jasha Barad and Vithalbhai Shah, the recommendation by the government to the Centre for a CBI inquiry into this was being delayed.
He said the government had asked Anti-corruption Bureau to inquire into the alleged irregularities committed by former RJP minister of state for home Vipul Chaudhary while striking a deal to purchasejeeps for the police department.
