Mumbai were poorly placed at 20 for two but slowly recovered to the present situation. Gujarat were 281 for nine before their rearguard action helped them reach a formidable score. The Patels scored their runs in just 16 overs.

When Mumbai batted, they lost wickets quickly and only a middle order revival by Nilesh Gawas and Sushant Manjrekar, who raised 52 for the fifth wicket, helped Mumbai come out of the slump. Before that, opener Ashutosh Narkar had scored a patient 40.
