According to the police, Tiwari's associates operated in the Paras Cinema area near the traffic police station. Traffic offenders who came to the station were promised their papers by touts who would charge Rs 500 for the service. The touts would then get in touch with Tiwari, who would get the papers from court and forge them.

Man stabbed in Shakarpur
A month-old dispute between two men over setting Ravana's effigy afire on Dussehra day ended today with one of them stabbing the other in the Shakarpur police station area.

Anuj Kumar, 22, sustained injuries on his head after he was stabbed by Ashish, 19, near a cinema this morning. Both are residents of Mohan Park in Shakarpur.

The police said Anuj, who runs chartered buses, was on his way to his office, when he was accosted by Ashish. After a brief altercation, Ashish reportedly took out a knife and stabbed Anuj in the head. Passersby took Anuj to GTB hospital. Doctors at the hospital said he is out of danger.

Meanwhile, the Shakarpur police have arrested Ashish, and booked him under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

4 arrested in Faridabad
The Faridabad district police today arrested four persons on charges of the murder of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) and stabbing his driver on Sunday night. Brij Gopal, Santosh, Vijendra and Rajendra have been remanded to 4-day police custody. Brij Gopal is the son of a prominent city transporter. He along with five other accomplices had allegedly gunned down Laxman Ram Chaudhary and injured his driver seriously after a heated argument over the release of three trucks confiscated by the official. Two of the accused are still absconding.
