Power project to be ready by Nov 7

GURGAON, November 5: First in the line of private sector power projects in Haryana, the 25.2 mega watt magnum power project will be formally made functional from November 7 when Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal will inaugurate it.

Vice-president of Magnum Power Generation ltd Y.P. Gulati told mediapersons that under their power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HUPN), the tariff has been fixed at Rs 2.40/KW of which Rs 1.11 is linked with fuel prices. Gulati said that the entire project has been conceived, planned and executed by their own thermal power division.

The vice-president added that as per the terms of PPA, they will raise bills on HUPN on monthly basis and payment will be released by HUPN after 30 days from the date of receipt of bill by HUPN. He added that the HUPN will also provide a letter of credit and the state government's guarantee.

Giving details of the technical aspects of the projects, Gulati said that the 25.2 MW plant comprises of four units of 6.3 MW each. Each unit consists of a KHD Deutz diesel engine with the inter-connecting 66 KV double circuit line (about 4.13 km long). The first unit was synchronised with the grid on August 26. The plant has been supplying energy regularly to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HUPN) and the total billing for the first 3 months has been 29.31 lakh unit (KWH).

The fuel supply agreement has been signed with Indian Oil Corporation and the daily fuel consumption will be about 140-150 tonne of heavy furnace oil.
