IA chargesheets 3 engineers

MUMBAI, November 6: Two Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and a technician of the Indian Airlines (IA) have been chargesheeted by the management in connection with the death of a technician. The victim was inspecting the nose landing gear of an Airbus A-300 at the Mumbai airport on October 3 when the freak accident took place.

According to airline sources, the three were chargesheeted on November 2 for negligence, carelessness and not following the laid down procedures. The accused have been given a week's time to file their reply. The technician, S B Kadam, was crushed to death when the aircraft's wheel door was unknowingly activated in the cockpit. The three accused were present in the cockpit, according to the technical report by an internal committee of the airline.

President of AAHRM elected

Gurdip Singh, deputy managing director of Indian Airlines, has been elected as the president of the Airlines Association for Human Resource Management at a recentmeeting. AAHRM is an international organisation of human resource professionals belonging to more than 22 countries mainly in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, African and Indian Ocean regions. Gurdip Singh, a post graduate from XLRI, Jamshedpur, has more than 32 years of experience in private and public sectors. He is now in charge of the engineering, project, jet engine auxiliary power unit and medical departments.

Bal Vividha educational fair

A Bal Vividha educational fair has been organised by Bal Bhavan and Comet Media Foundation between November nine and 12. The fair will feature activity corners for children and workshops. For details, call Comet Media on 3869052/3826674.

Drawing competition

A drawing competition for school children has been organised by the Govardhan Nagar Co-operative Housing Society, Mulund, on November 8. Children from 4,000 flats in the area will participate.
