CHANDIGARH, Nov 6: Consistency was the hallmark of SD College-32 cagers in their win against Government College, Ludhiana, 80-56. The win also helped them to retain the title in the Punjab University Inter-College men's basketball championship held at PU Campus here today.Though the Ludhiana team took the initiative and were leading by six points (10-4) when the match was barely into the fifth minute, they were unable to sustain the tempo. They not only fumbled under the rival basket but also indulged in rough tactics. Eight minutes from the lemon break the team had seven fouls.
On the other hand SD-32 hoopsters took time to settle down and once in their groove there was no looking back. First they levelled the score (10-10) and then they moved up in the second quarter of the first half with drive in and fast break and were leading by nine points at the break (32-23).
In the second session SD's Nirpinderjit and Dinesh Kumar were unstoppable. Both the players accounted for 45 points out of 80. Nirpinderjit's individual score remained 24 while Dinesh sunk 21 points.
As the match progressed the margin of victory also widened and when the long whistle blew SD-32 were 24 points ahead of Ludhiana's team (80-56).
