The Bhiwani grapplers won seven gold, four silver and one bronze to stamp their class over the rest of the SAI hostel boys in almost all weight categories. Their technique and the stamina were far superior to that of their rivals. But a few of the Bareilly boys fought their bouts well to give some anxious moments to the wrestlers from Bhiwani. The next best performance came from the boys in Safai hostel as they lost the second place by a solitary point.

Leading the medal hunt for Bhiwani were Virender Singh, Dharmender, Jagender in the heavy weight categories followed by Devinder, Pappu Singh Chauhan and Sandeep Kumar.

Virender Singh struggled initially before subduing his rival from Bareilly Manoj Kumar on points. But the latter fought well before the referee blow the whistle. But Dharmender had little difficulty as within three minutes he won his bout against Somvir, his colleague from Bhiwani hostel, by fall.
