MUMBAI, Nov 7: Superb spell by Vishwas Walawalkar and Rajesh Sawant helped Catholic Gymkhana dismis Islam Gymkhana for a meagre 80 and then win the match by eight wickets in the last league match of the Police Invitation Cricket Shield Tournament, sponsored by Jayantilal Khandwala & sons and Khandwala securities at the National ground, Cross Maidan here today.Walawalkar took three for 26 while Sawant prised out four for 27. Islam Gymkhana were actually 18 for eight before Salim Kamaluddin contributed 25 runs. The total also included 10 penalty runs as Catholic Gymkhana bowled one over short. Manoj Joglekar's century (102) and a good knock by another left-hander, Kiran Powar (49) helped MCA Colts score 245 for three in 47 overs against Parsee Gymkhana.
Cricket Club of India, who was possibly looking at a big total to chase, did well to restrict Bombay Gymkhana to 113 for seven. Gymkhana were 78 for two at one stage but medium-pacer Iqbal Thakur (3-31) and left-arm spinner Mayank Khandwala (2-29) grabbedwickets at regular intervals.
