MUSSOORIE, NOV 9: Sakchai had no plans to play in India. He just wanted to be Praput's translator which the organisers readily agreed to. But once he decided to play, the Thai had an amazing run, defeating Rupesh Shah and Siddharth Rao on his way to the final of the S Chand-Jaypee International snooker tournament at the Residency Manor. He reserved his best for the final against favourite Praput C, upsetting him by nine frames to four to take the title. Praput was not playing anywhere near his best. He muffed several sitters like missing a four inch red pot in the centre pocket in the first frame which Sakchai took gleefully. Sakchai soon raced away to a virtually unassailable lead of six frames to two, in the best of 17 frames final, by the break.
The second session turned out to be a one-sided affair because it was so difficult for Praput to recover from such a huge deficit. Sakchai won 70-33, 43-63, 67-49, 71-12, 0-69, 71-24, 60-15, 70-52, 38-65, 64-16, 67-39, 32-76, 69-23.
