BANGALORE, Nov 9: Doubts about the survival of the Patel government was cleared with former prime minister H D Deve Gowda appealing to Janata Dal legislators in Karnataka to unitedly defeat on Tuesday the opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion against the government.Deve Gowda who arrived here from Delhi to sort out the crisis urged all the 120 members, including associate members, to vote out the no-confidence motion.
Gowda said he would not have any formal consultations with his supporters who had rallied behind him to revolt against the Patel Government. He, along with Bommai, was supposed to consult the senior ministers, dissidents and Patel loyalists to clear all ambiguities at the JDLP meeting on Friday in the presence of party president Sharad Yadav.
Deve Gowda said that the decision to save the government through mutual talks between him, Bommai and Patel was taken at Delhi on November 4. Patel on his return to Bangalore had briefed the media about the truce. Deve Gowda said he had nothingto add to the decision and the briefing done by Patel to media.
It is learnt that Deve Gowda was peeved at Patel briefing the media about the truce arrived in Delhi. It is learnt that Deve Gowda, having started the crisis in the party was expected to announce the truce between him and Patel to the media in Bangalore.
