MUMBAI, NOV 11: While the Sena-BJP alliance today received a major set back when it failed miserably to gain control over the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank following massive debacle of its nominees in the elections, former chief minister Sharad Pawar has re-established his hold over the cooperative sector with his panel winning all the 14 seats.Senior Congress leaders Suryakanta Patil, Usha Choudhary and Leelavati Jadhav were elected to the seats reserved for women and former chairman of the bank, Madhukar Chavan, was elected to the processing units' constituency.
In fact, when the elections were announced, Rural Development Minister Anna Dange and Cooperation Minister Jaiprakash Mundhada had taken a lead to unseat the Congress stalwarts.
Others elected are Satyawan Deshmukh, Gulabrao Khopade, Shyamrao Shinde, Bhawarlal Modi, Ravindra Durugkar, Jeetendra Rawal, N D Kamble, Madhavrao Tapare. Barring Jalna, Amravati and Jalgaon, Congress nominees were elected to all the other places.
The districtcooperative banks' elections was held on October 27.
