Suvarna Bank reach final Rahul Kanade's excellent batting performance steered hosts, Shree Suvarna Sahakari Bank, into the finals, defeating Vidya Sahakari Bank by four wickets in the Inter Co-operative Banks limited overs cricket tournament for the late JC Agashe trophy being played at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana ground. After Suvarna Bank won the toss, Vidya Sahakari Bank was sent in to bat. In a rapid scoring session, Vidya Bank reached a healthy total of 170 before being bowled out. Mahesh Kotasthane's breezy knock of 50 in 48 balls including seven hits to the fence was the highlight of their innings. Also contributing to the total was Nikhil Dixit who remained not out on 45. Prasad Kanade and Ranjit Khirid shared two wickets each. A classy knock by Rahul Kanade, top scoring with 62 runs in as many balls, made the task easy for the hosts to reach the stipulated target. His innings included three boundaries and three shots sailing over the ropes. Sandip Trigune (37) and Avinash Kokate (24) steadied the innings initially. The target wasreached in the 38th over with four wickets in hand. Brief Scores: Vidya Shakari: 170 (Manish Kotasthane 50, Nikhil Dixit 45, Sandeep Lele 19, Prasad Kanade 2/28, Ranjit Khirid 2/42) lost to Suvarna Sahakari: 171/6 (Rahul Kanade 62, Sandip Trigune 37, Avinash Koakate 24, Mandar Dalvi 4/18). Result: Suvarna won by four wickets.State badminton team announced A twenty-four member team will represent the Maharashtra State team for the National level Badminton tournament to be held later.
