India and Pakistan hold the record for the maximum number (39) of one-dayers played in a calendar year.

In the 27-year-old history of the shortened version of the game, 127 matches were played in 1996, when Pakistan took part in 39 matches to erase the mark set by England in 1987 of 31. India had broken England's record last year.

Australia having participated in 25 stands second in the list.

Zimbabwe would be playing their 23rd one-dayer tomorrow to join New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the third in the list this year.
