NEW DELHI, November 12: RVC defeated the OTA 4-1/2 to nil in the final to lift the Field Marshala Cariappa Cup Polo at the Equestrian Centre ground here today.In a one-sided final, RVC began with a half a goal handicap. Ajay Ahlawat opened the account for RVC in the first chukker and Sandeep Kashyap increased the tally by striking once during the chukker.
OTA tried its best to restore parity but found the going tough against a famed opponent in the next two chukkers. Similarly, even RVC's several attempts was of no avail as the teams went for the last chukker. In the last one, however, Ahlawat and Shailendra Singh were able to score once each to clinch the final.
The Baria Cup (4-goal) tournament gets underway from tomorrow at the same venue.
