GUWAHATI, Nov 13: The Steering Committee of Asom Gana Parishad has issued a show-cause notice to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Digen Bora and removed him from the post of party spokesman, for his alleged anti-party activities. The notice was issued following his recent controversial statements to the press, party sources said. The Steering Committee meeting was held here under AGP President Prafulla Kumar Mahanta late last night. Bora was also present at the meeting, the sources said.
Last night's decision was a sequel to the AGP legislature party's resolution on Tuesday, demanding disciplinary action against the minister.
Bora, who was considered close to the Chief Minister, had been making statements to the press that ``there was no leader in Assam after former Congress Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia.''
He also alleged that no magistrate or policeman was provided to him, during his recent raids on hoarders of essential commodities. Bora, who played a trouble-shooter's role in favour of Mahantaduring the dissident activities earlier this year, also expressed his dissatisfaction when his father-in-law was picked up for questioning, in connection with the recent LPG tanker blast here.
His wife had resigned from the post of Chief of the AGP Women's Wing about two month ago, accusing the Government machinery of being involved in burning her newspapers along with some other dailies, for allegedly publishing `anti-Mahanta' news items.
