Forest department to plant more eucalyptus trees

GURGAON, November 13: The Gurgaon forest department has evolved a scheme whereby plantation of eucalyptus trees in the water logged areas of the state has been envisaged. Minister of state for forests Jagdish Yadav said that since the eucalyptus plants consume more water due to high evaporation from their leaves, their plantation can to a great extent solve the water-logging problem.The minister said that the vice-chancellor of the Haryana Agriculture University (HAU) will head the committee constituted to pilot the ambitious 1,500 crore scheme and irrigation, drainage and minor irrigation tubewell corporation (MTC) have bene actively involved in the project.
