CHANDIGARH, Nov 13: Geeta Aggarwal of Chandigarh and Parul of Delhi sailed into the women's singles semifinal of the fourth Tara Chand Memorial cash prize invitation badminton tournament being held at Community Centre, Sector 7 in Panchkula today.

Geeta outclassed Nazma of Punjab 5-11, 13-11, 13-11 while Parul defeated Preetika of Haryana 9-11, 11-3, 11-2.

Under-16 (q-finals): Shehnaz (Pb) bt Navita (HP) 11-1, 11-0; Roma (Hry) bt Nidhi (Hry) 11-1, 11-1; Vidhu bt Gauri 11-9, 11-5.

Singles (q-finals): Parul (Del) bt Preetika (Hry) 9-11, 11-3, 11-2; Yogita (Pb) bt Karishma Singh (Del) 13-11, 5-11, 13-12; Geeta Aggarwal (Ch) bt Nazma (Pb) 5-11, 13-11, 13-11.

Deepak shines
Deepak Saini's 61-run and deadly bowling by Rajnish (4 for 18) enabled DAV Senior Secondary School-8 score a 97 runs victory over Government Model High School-42, to enter the next round of the Chandigarh State Inter-School under-14 boys cricket tournament held at Govt Model School-32.
Brief Scores: DAV-8: 151 for 6 in 20 overs (Deepak Saini 61, Naresh 21, Nishant 10, Sushant 2 for 25); Govt Model High School-42: 54 in 15.4 overs (Sushant 16, Ravish 9, Rajnish 4 for 18, Vikas 2 for 15).

Soccer meet
Chandigarh Football Association would organise Chandigarh junior league championship (under-19) for Deepak Memorial Trophy from November 19 at Sector 17 Football Stadium. The meet is being held in memory of Deepak, a budding footballer who recently met with a fatal road accident.

Players born on or January 1, 1979 are eligible for the meet.
