Locals face militant wrath in J&K
Militants have intensified attack on people living in Poonch, Rajouri and Doda in an attempt to dissuade them from enrolling as Special Police Officers (SPOs). Intelligence sources said a concerted effort was being made to deal a psychological blow to SPOs by inflicting casualty on them.

UGC in for revamp; ordinance likely to check fake varsities
Minister for Human Resource Development Murli Manohar Joshi has expanded the scope of an existing task force to recommend ways to revamp the University Grants Commission (UGC). The task force, headed by noted educationist and former vice-chancellor of Punjabi University at Patiala, Amrik Singh, was convened to suggest ways to check the growth of fake universities.

Pakistan says it has 3,000 mw of surplus power for India
Pakistan has said that it is yet to receive any official suggestion from India for the purchase of power and has claimed that it has around 3,000 mw of surplus power which can be sold to India.
