Christians form panel
A steering committee for organising a rally on December 4 to protest against atrocities on Christians was formed at a meeting of pastors of various Christian denominations and representatives of parish councils, associations and churches on Thursday. The committee, headed by Bishop of Vadodara Godfrey de Rozario will have Fr Cyprian Mendonca of Rosary Church, Fr Vincent Ruskin of Don Bosco Parish and Fr Mendica of St Joseph's Church as members along with pastors of different churches and parish priests of Catholic churches.SBS's branch
The State Bank of Saurashtra will open its region A/I office at Commerce Centre, Sayajigunj on November 21. While Bank Managing Director S S Kucheria will inaugurate the branch, Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria and District Collector Anil Mukim will be the chief guests. The city office will be headed by assistant general manager S N Bhalsod.
Pharmacy week
The Vadodara branch of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) will hold several awareness programmes to mark the National Pharmacy Week. The IPA, in collaboration with the Senior Citizen Association of Sardar Nagar, will hold a function on November 21 at the Sardar Patel Smruti Kendra, Sardar Nagar at 5.30 pm. Several dignitaries will speak on `Better Health Through Proper Storage of Medicines'.
Honoured
Monali Desai, gynaec cancer specialist from Vadodara, has been honoured by the Indian Junior Chamber as `Outstanding young person of Gujarat for 1998'. She was the first to start a Gynaec Cancer Hospital in Nagarwada after extensive training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
