VADODARA, Nov 25: A number of students of the Science faculty of M S University began an indefinite hunger strike from Wednesday, even as two of them lodged an FIR against Sayajigunj police inspector P Mukul for assaulting them in the campus on Tuesday. Students also submitted a memorandum to Police Commissioner Kuldip Sharma, demanding action against Mukul.University general secretary Prakash Verma has sent a fax to the National Human Rights Commission to draw their attention to the assault. ``No letter will be given to the university authorities since they've failed to take any action till now'', he said.
``The demands of the students this time round are not unjustified'', said one of the students who has gone on a fast. ``The faculty authorities have to reassure us that such incidents will not be repeated. Besides, they are wrong to claim that the two students yesterday were abusing the teachers''.
The student also claimed that no campus authority objected to the police beating up the two students yesterday.
The agitating students are determined to continue their hunger-strike till action was taken against Mukul or the authorities promised them there would be no repetitions of Tuesday's episode.
