The woman, Manorama Khosla was living alone in her three-bedroom ground floor house. She was last seen by her first-floor neighbour, Shiv Kumar Singh, at around 8 last evening while she was taking a stroll in the verandah.

A relative of the deceased had been trying desperately to get in touch with her on the phone since last evening, the police said. When he found that no one was answering the call till early this morning, he called up Singh to check on her. Singh found the front door of the house slightly ajar. He entered the house and found her body in the bedroom. Her purse was lying open but all jewellery on her person was in tact.

Though the police has not ruled out robbery as a motive, they are waiting for her daughter who is settled in Mumbai and son who is living in Oman to come and list the missing items, if any.
