Symposium on genetics from Dec 1

AMRITSAR, Nov 27: Prominent international scientists are expected to attend the four-day international symposium on genetics, health and disease which gets underway at Guru Nanak Dev University campus on December 1.

Symposium chairman Dr Jai Rup Singh said the major theme this year will be the "frontiers of human genetics in the 21st century" and the scientific programme includes three plenary and 13 parallel sessions on recent concepts of human genetics.

The symposium would be inaugurated by the Punjab Governor while N.K. Ganguly, director of the Indian Council of Medical Research, will deliver a lecture on "health benefits from molecular medicine".

The chairman said more than 200 delegates from India and 70 from about 35 foreign countries will attend the meet.
