NEW DELHI, November 27: Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Yashvir Singh, who is posted at the Seelampur Police Station, was called on duty at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Till 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Singh and 40,736 other Delhi Police personnel were stationed at various booths, leaving them with no time to vote.Policemen are rarely posted at booths where they are listed and even though special provisions have been made for them, most don't complete the formalities. The officers are supposed to fill an intimation form and mail it to the returning officer.
When an Express Newsline team visited various polling booths in the Capital, many police officers were seen roaming around with forms in hand. Constable Satyanarayan, posted at the Karawal Nagar police station, said, ``I didn't get time to go to the election office in my constituency, find my enrollment number and fill the form. I wish I had filled it up, even I want to vote''.
Senior police officers said that a large number of personnel were deployed at the booths today as they had received information that criminals from adjoining states had infiltrated into the Capital. Additional reinforcements were sent to the 118 sensitive booths.
