EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

Mumbai, Dec 1: Amid growing speculation over a group of Independent MLAs considering returning to the Congress fold before or during the the winter session beginning December 14, the Chief Minister Manohar Joshi today asserted that there was absolutely no threat to his government.

``I am firm in the saddle and there is no threat to the alliance government,'' Joshi told media persons after the weekly cabinet meeting.

Joshi said, by and large, most of the independent legislators are supporting the alliance government and as such, his government is safe and stable.

In the wake of massive victory for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi, the independent legislators, mostly Congress rebels, were in constant touch with senior Congress leader Sharad Pawar.
