At close of play, Bank of Maharashtra were 22 for 1. Manjrekar's knock of 123 was studded with 17 fours, while Patil hit four fours in his 50. Ujawal Tari of B Arunkumar was the other batsman to record a century, 110, against Chowgule at Matunga. Arunkumar finished the first day at 366 for 6. Praful Dhule (74), Sudhir Sawant (68) and Milind Korgaonkar (batting 70) were the othe principal scorers in the Group A match.

Varun Shipping did well to restrict Bank of India to 237 for eight, after being 151 for three at one stage. Varun claimed the second new ball at 209 for five after 83 overs, which proved decisive as both left-arm seamer Janak Mistry (3-56) and Umesh Patwal (3-56) tore into the lowerorder.

A fighting 84 runs partnership for the eighth wicket between Vinod Raghavan (60) and Anthony Dias (38) helped Dena Bank to score 170 after being 53 for seven at one stage against Indian Navy. Medium-pacers S Javed (3-53) and Kapil Dev Pandey (4-34) did the early damage. At draw of stumps, Navy were 57 for four. Left-arm spinner Prashant Sawant took two wickets just before close of play to return with remarkable figures of 4-1-5-2.
