VADODARA, Dec 1: The city police have launched the 24-hour Crime Line. The Friends of police can call up on telephone number 425555 to give any information about criminals to the police. The telephone will be attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police M S Kevlani during day and by the city control room inspector in the night.The telephone can also be used by the general public to give information regarding any suspicious person or their movements in their neighbourhood, criminal activities and hideout of gangsters, possession of drugs, arms and explosives, registration numbers of vehicles used in crime, abandoned vehicles and storage of stolen property or any crime.
A pamphlet issued by the city police has assured that the informer's name will not be asked, and if the person is willing to give his/her name, it will not be disclosed.
The pamphlet has also appealed to the people to co-operate with FOP persons in combating crime and terrorism. The FOP leaflet advises children as well as common masses not to accept any gifts or articles from strangers or touch any unattended objects like toys, watches, balls, tiffin boxes and not accept any luggage or article from strangers.
It also asks people to report immediately to the police if they come across any unclaimed objects in trains, buses or in any other means of conveyance. Either the local police station can be contacted or information given to the police control room on telephone numbers 100, 432300, 431500 or on pager number 9622 100100.
