Easy for PSEB in Shastri hockey

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
NEW DELHI, December 1: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) chalked out easy victories over their rivals in the Shastri hockey tournament here today.

CISF routed Lucknow XI 4-1 after leading 1-0 at half time and PSEB downed Corps of Signal 3-0.

Anil Kumar put CISF ahead in the 24th minute when he converted a penalty stroke. Jai Paul Dhaiya made it 2-0 for CISF immediately after the break by scoring off a penalty corner. Jai Paul Dhaiya scored his second and team's third goal in the 58th minute and four minutes later captain L Kajur completed the tally when he shot home the fourth goal. Javed Mansoor reduced the margin for the losers in the 63rd minute.

In the other match, PSEB led 2-0 at lemon break against Signals. Vikram Saini scored the first goal for the power men in the 31st minute and two minutes later Sawinder Jit Singh made it 2-0.

Charanjit Singh scored the third goal for PSEB in the 40th minute.

Shahzeb hits ton n Powered by a 201-run unbroken stand for the second wicket between Shahzeb (113) and Gurpreet Singh (59), Bon Ton beat Siri Fort Sports Club by 39 runs.

Brief Scores: Bon Ton: 204 for 1 (Shahzeb 113 not out, Gurpreet Singh 59 not out). Siri Fort Sports Club: 165 (Dheeraj 71, Shantanu 34, Anish Aggarwal 6 for 31, Arif 2 for 29, Alameer 2 for 35).

Pankaj Joshi shines
An unbeaten 60 (8x4, 1x6) by Pankaj Joshi and his 60-run stand for the second wicket with 12-year-old Karan harit (19) helped Gemini Club beat Canara Bank by three wickets in the Hari Singh Tyagi TYCA league.

Brief Scores: Canara Bank: 154 (Vijay Singh 32, Harish Sharma 25 not out). Gemini Club: 155 for 7 (Pankaj Joshi 60 not out, Shiv Kumar 4 for 33).
