Rahman bags RAPA award A R Rahman won the Best Singer award for Maa Tujhe Salam in the music video category at the 23rd annual award of the Radio & TV Advertising Practitioners Association held at Nehru Centre on Tuesday.Nearly 60 awards were given away, including in radio advertising, TV spots, teleserials in Hindi, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, Oriya Bengali and English by Cultural Affairs Minister Pramod Navalkar, Jagjit Singh and Dr P S Pasricha, Joint CP. Special awards instituted in memory of Hamid Sayani was given to Subhash Chandra Goel, Zee TV chairperson for contribution to the media; the Sheel Kumar trophy to Sudhir Pandey for best performance in Amanat and the Oberoi Trophy was give to Kodak, produced by Highlight Video, for best ad film. ABC's secretary-General The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has appointed Hormuzd B Masani as its its new Chief Executive, designated as Secretary-General, following the retirement of executivesecretary C S Karnik. Masani joined as Secretary-General on December 1.Masani (37) is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and was employed at M/s Lovelock & Lewes, Chartered Accountants as a manager. Lecture by Dr Tikekar Dr Aroon Tikekar, editor of Loksatta will deliver a lecture on Dr Ranade: The Renaissance Man. What happened to his legacy? at the Convocation Hall of Mumbai University, Fort campus, at 5.30 pm on December 3. The lecture is part of the Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar Memorial Lectures organised by the history department of the University.Hobby classes for children Jawahar Bal Bhavan is starting hobby classes for children and their parents from December five on Saturdays and Sundays. The classes will be held from four to seven pm on Saturday and between nine and 12 pm on Sundays. Free counselling for children and parents are available on Saturdays between three and six 6 pm.
