VADODARA, Dec 2: The setting up of two naptha-based power plants by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC) and Krishak Bharati Co-operative Limited (KRIBHCO) will increase the installed capacity of Gujarat Electricity Board's (GEB) power generation by 360 MW.While the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited plant will be set up at a cost of nearly Rs 560 crore, the KRIBHCO plant will cost about Rs 700 crore. The projects are part of steps taken to meet future demands of consumers.
At a GEB board meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Nalin Bhatt, staff was sanctioned for Salejada sub-station. Among the other decisions included retention of meter readers' posts at Vadodara city circle, bifurcation of Aji operation and maintenance sub-division and purchase of power transformers.
It was also decided to take action against Board employees if found involved in cases of power theft. Purchase of equipment for Sikka Thermal Plant was approved but with a caution of making the purchases economical and observing quality control measures.
