Insurance bill may be diluted
While the government has still not finalised the Insurance Bill, it is likely that it will prune the amount of foreign equity that will be allowed in the sector. Although details are still being hammered out in the Finance Ministry, officials are confident that the final solution will be acceptable to even the Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), and various allies, who have been opposing the proposed bill tooth and nail, says a report from New Delhi.

Govt gets a drubbing
The Opposition took the government to task in the Lok Sabha today for encouraging rath yatras by the BJP and its frontal organisations to liberate the Budangiri shrine in Karnataka.

Through such acts, the government was destroying communal harmony and encouraging forces against the unity and integrity of the country, they said. Raising the issue during zero hour, P. Shiv Shankar (Congress) said it was a matter of great shame that the BJP and its sister organisations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were engaged in such acts, says a report from New Delhi.
